National Desexing Month 2018

National Desexing Month (July) has now finished.  We are currently contacting Vets and asking them to provide feedback forms on the number of animals desexed throughout July.  Once we receive these figures we will post details on our website.

We would like to thank all the participating Vets for National Desexing Month.  We are very grateful to have over 200 Vets join for the month of July.

Thank you to all the pet owners who took advantage of the discounts available in July also.  We hope this will reduce the numbers of unwanted animals in Australia.

Please check our website for pricing or contact us on 1300 368 992. You do need to hold a concession card (health care/pension) or be on Centrelink benefit to be eligible for the discount.

I have two male cats that are in desperate need of being fixed. They are trying to claw their way out of our house. I can’t afford to fix them and don’t want them to get hurt.

They are about 7 months old now.

I have a pensioners card and a health care card

Where can I get this done at minimum fees and I really don’t have much money spare at all

We live in Kallangur but can travel a bit

    Thank you

hi my name is heather I have been unable to get my cats desexed ,I don’t get much money. to make things worse I took in two more heavy pregnant girls ,one left behind when owner moved …still waiting at that house for her owners, getting very thin apart from a huge belly. The other had actually had her kittens 7 of them we found her at a local bush area where people dump all sorts ,often cats/kittens.This mum had been trying so hard , her kittens although hungry were in pretty good shape but mum could hardly stand anymore she was a skeleton with brown rank smelling fluid coming from both ends , yet she was still trying to clean her kittys but had lost her milk.we have her back on her feet and getting better and finally after days and days of hand feeding have the kittys feeding themselves. Sorry I got way off track but you can see how I have min a dozen kittens that need homing and at present five females that need desexing. I wanted to know for future needs do they run a desexing month in Victoria at all . Thanks to you I can see a vet near me which is good but still a lot of money if you don’t have it. Just feeding all my lot costs a heap and I know Ishould not have them if I cant afford it but its hard to get help to home them . Around here one of the only options is the local pound ,so a good chance of death row as such. Many of the cats I have ,have been through hell to some degree they deserve good homes. Its not easy as while they are well looked after with me, theyre not spayed thus more unwanted kittens. I have thought often about maybe starting a petition in my local area ,[there is a large number of ministry housing in Churchill, thus many very low income households in turn there is a huge amount of undesexed pets’] and seeing if something could be organised to get the four legged locals desexed and microchiped without going hungry to do it.

Hi Heather, thanks for your query. Wow you are overwhelmed with cats and kittens aren’t you ! We are not sure how we can help you but would like to try.Do you hold a concession card ? If so you could check with your local Council to see if they are offering any desexing programs. We think you are in the Latrobe Valley ? Is that correct ? We do have Traralgon Vet offering to desex male cats for $70 and females for $100 if you hold a concession card. You can apply for vouchers online at our website if you can afford to have a few desexed.
We do not have much funding to assist people but do so when and if we can. If you provide a contact number we can phone you and have a chat. Please ask for Carol. I work Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
      Kind regards
      Carol Mihaka

Hi Niki, thanks for your enquiry. Unfortunately all our participating Vets in SA do require you to hold a concession card. You could try Animal Desexing Clinic in Allenby Gardens as they offer reasonable desexing prices.
