The City of Ballarat Council is offering $50 cat desexing through a suburb-targeted funding round, delivered in partnership with the National Desexing Network.

Eligible suburbs for this round

Residents must live in one of the following suburbs to be eligible:

  • Mount Pleasant
  • Sebastopol
  • Wendouree

And:

  • Hold a pension or concession card
  • Are on a low income
  • Are caring for multiple cats
  • Are willing to desex and adopt unowned stray cats
  • Are experiencing financial hardship or are otherwise disadvantaged

These suburbs were identified by Council using animal management data, including roaming cat reports, nuisance complaints and stray intake trends. Targeting funding in this way helps ensure limited resources are directed where they can have the greatest immediate impact in reducing unplanned litters and related community issues.

How does the program work?

  1. Call NDN on 1300 368 992 to check your eligibility.
  2. If approved, you will receive a desexing voucher via email.
  3. Use your voucher at the participating vet clinic
  4. Make an appointment and be sure to mention your NDN desexing voucher.

Eligible residents currently contribute just $50 per cat, with the remaining costs subsidised by Council.

Let’s work together to improve animal welfare and reduce the number of unwanted cats in our community.
