The National Desexing Network (NDN) would like to extend our sincere thanks to Scratch Pet Food for their ongoing commitment to preventing unwanted litters and improving the lives of companion animals across Australia.

Since 2022, Scratch Pet Food has proudly supported National Desexing Network initiatives, contributing more than $95,000 towards programs that help pet owners access affordable desexing services and address companion animal overpopulation before it becomes a crisis.

As a preventative animal welfare initiative of Animal Welfare League Queensland, NDN works alongside veterinary clinics, local councils, donors and community partners to reduce the number of unwanted litters entering shelters and pounds. By helping pet owners access affordable desexing services, we can create better outcomes for pets, families and communities while easing pressure on animal welfare organisations.

Scratch’s support has helped NDN invest in practical, community-focused programs that deliver measurable outcomes where they matter most.

In 2025 alone, Scratch-funded initiatives contributed to:

🐾 976 cats and dogs desexed through National Desexing Month veterinary clinic grants

🐾 Support for targeted community desexing projects, including North Stradbroke Island, where access to veterinary services can be limited and roaming entire animals present ongoing welfare challenges

🐾 Increased awareness of the importance of early desexing and responsible pet ownership through national education and prevention campaigns

Every desexing procedure represents more than a single animal. It helps prevent future unwanted litters, reduces the risk of animals entering shelters and pounds, supports community wellbeing, and creates better outcomes for pets and the people who care for them.

We are incredibly grateful to co-founders Mike Halligan and Douglas Spiegelhauer, and the entire Scratch Pet Food team, for their continued belief in prevention as a practical and compassionate way to improve animal welfare outcomes. Their support demonstrates how businesses can make a meaningful contribution to solving complex community challenges by investing in long-term, preventative solutions.

As National Desexing Month 2026 gets underway, we are proud to continue working alongside organisations like Scratch Pet Food that share our vision of fewer unwanted litters and a brighter future for companion animals across Australia.

By investing in prevention, Scratch is helping create lasting change for pets, families and communities across Australia. We are proud to celebrate their ongoing partnership and support.

Thank you, Scratch Pet Food, for helping make a lasting difference.
